RCSA STATIONERY DRIVE

Did you know that about 20% of the Jamaican population cannot read or write*. Even though it may not be problem of YOURS, stop and think of how our society is affected by illiteracy. It is said that widespread illiteracy leads to lower education and unemployment and crime and violence.

Every person needs to acquire literacy in his/her early development, because reading and writing are useful skills used in so many daily activities, from reading the newspapers, to writing letters and emails.

In an effort to promote literacy among young children with special needs, the Rotract club of St. Andrew has started a ’Stationery Drive’. For the month of August we will be collecting stationery items which includes, Scrapbooks, Ream paper, Cartridge paper, Jumbo Crayons, Play dough, Paper glue, Powdered paint, Water paint, Jumbo pencil, Eraser, Story books, Preschool colouring book etc.
Please make every effort to support this worthy cause. You can contact our Community Service Director Shaloy Morrison • 298-7994 • shaloy_angel@yahoo.com

Make your mark – Make a difference. Lets fight illiteracy!
